Discover San Diego

Happiness is calling, start planning your visit to San Diego now.

Welcome to America’s Finest City, with near-perfect weather year-round, 70 miles of spectacular coastline, world-class attractions, and a thriving urban core, complete with a sophisticated art, dining, and nightlife scene. There’s something for everyone.

Soak up the Sun at the Beach

San Diego is home to some of the best beaches in the United States. Popular beaches include La Jolla Shores, Torrey Pines State Beach, Pacific Beach, Mission Beach, Ocean Beach, and Coronado Beach.

La Jolla Shores is a mile-long crescent of prime sand beach favored by active beachgoers of all interests. Anchored by the Scripps Institute of Oceanography pier, this is a busy swimming area popular among families and surfers alike. Shielded by La Jolla Bay, it is also used as a launching ground for scuba diving and kayaking. At night it's alive with the glow of beach fires.

At the northernmost point of La Jolla is Torrey Pines State Beach. Fortified by 300-foot sea cliffs, a nature walk along the bluffs through native vegetation—including the signature Torrey Pine—leads to endless views of the Pacific. Here you’ll find long stretches of beach ideal for sunbathing and family fun adjacent to a large parking area.

South of La Jolla lies Pacific Beach and Mission Beach. Pacific Beach, or P.B. as the locals call it is a favorite for the younger crowd. Many families enjoy north Pacific Beach near the Tourmaline Surf Park. Along the 3-mile oceanfront boardwalk, you'll find funky surf shops, beach bars, cafes, and nightclubs. A variety of upscale resorts and family hotels are also scattered along the coast. Be sure to visit Mission Beach’s iconic Belmont Park amusement park and entertainment center for a ride on the Giant Dipper roller coaster or game of laser tag.

Situated just across the bay from downtown San Diego, Coronado is consistently voted best beach in the U.S. by Dr. Beach. With gentle surf, sparkling wide-sand beaches, charming main street and great hotels, including the famous Hotel del Coronado, this island paradise is perfect for a family vacation or romantic getaway.

Coronado's coastline offers wide sandy beaches with sparkling sand, courtesy of the mineral Mica, that draw visitors from around the world. With its elegant gardens, old-world mansions, quaint shops, and oceanfront dining with spectacular sunset views, no wonder this charmed small town has been dubbed "The Crown City," as Coronado means "the crowned one" in Spanish.

Play Golf Where the Pros Play

Voted as one of the top destinations for golfers in the country, San Diego is home to over 70 golf courses including the world-renowned Torrey Pines Golf Course, home of the annual Farmers Open on the PGA Tour and to two US Opens Championships (2008 & 2021). Torrey Pines Golf Course has two 18-hole courses and breath-taking views of the cliffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean, you're sure to have a memorable experience, even if your golf game isn't up-to-par.

Interesting Fact: Torrey Pines Golf Course is actually a public golf course owned and operated by the City of San Diego.
